Who is Simone Givney and where did she come from?

Organising events for over 8 years for a variety of companies, Simone actually found her calling at a young age of 15 when a team of friends petitioned the school to create an elective subject allowing them to organise their year 10 formal. With this event deemed a success and passing the subject, they turned their sights to the year 12 formal.

After making the move north, again she stumbled upon the task of organising a series of fashion shows and bar flair competitions for a local bar in Fortitude Valley.

Once doing a few of these it was then Simone knew she wanted to pursue a career in event management. This was during the time where event management did not really exist as a ‘real’ profession, courses were very few and far between. Never the less she found a course that gave her the basics and before she finished her studies was employed full-time as an event coordinator for major festivals across Brisbane.

The last 6 months of her course was spent working a 5 day a week job in 4 days and doing a 5 day a week tertiary course in 1 day and after work hours via correspondence.

This was the birth of her love for events, since this time Simone has walked, breathed and spoke events. From organising major festivals, fundraising campaigns & events, launches, parties, performing arts events and media events, Simone has made it her purpose to experience a variety of events to ensure her a holistic approach to organising events.

This blog is a culmination of years getting to know events…
